Working on my Fitness

My fiance and I have been doing a weight loss challenge through work for about a week, and today was the first day that we decided to do some serious exercise to help contribute to our weight loss.

We set our alarm half an hour earlier and decided to take a bike ride around our neighborhood. It was early, and we didn't get up quite when the alarm went off, but we got out there and did our thing.

I really thought it was going to be a lot harder than it ended up being. We went to bed early last night so we'd be sure to be plenty rested for the ride today. I actually ended up waking earlier than we had to, but I just laid in bed until the alarm went off. And then I laid in bed a little more, but not as much as I expected!

Once I got up, it was easy to get dressed and get outside. I'd already laid out my outfit for this morning last night. And once I stepped outside, it was even easier to be motivated to ride because the weather was so beautiful! It was warm, but not hot, and everything had that fresh, morning feel to it.

We only ended up riding for about 10 minutes, but that's 10 more minutes than if we would have stayed in bed! It was a really mind-clearing experience, and it was nice feeling like the whole world was at our fingertips, before everyone else woke up and went out and about.

Does the morning give you that same feeling? What do you like to do in the morning before everyone else gets going? When do you like to work out?

  1. This is a great post! I'm trying SO HARD to become a morning person but I haven't mastered it yet. I think that just doing it is the best. Just getting up and going! I'd like to get to a place where I'm exercising (and enjoying it!) in the morning. Eventually I'll be there :)

    1. Thank you! I am typically not a morning person, but thankfully I was just feeling it today! Sometimes when I convince myself that I HAVE to do something, and there's no way of getting out of it, it is easier to do because I prepare myself (physically, emotionally, etc) to tackle whatever the task is!

  2. I am NOT a morning person. However, this year I am getting up, exercising and starting my day with positive thoughts, prayers and healthy food.

  3. I hate working out ,but if I had a partner it would make it easier.. I hate waking up early but when I do.... it is nice to have the house so quiet while it's so dark outside.

  4. I am definitely not a morning person! But, if there is something I have to do then I make myself get up and get on with the day. I much prefer getting stuff done late at night than early in the morning.

    1. Lately I've found that I'm just exhausted at the end of the day, so I'm hoping this morning thing will work out!

  5. At least you got out there! I'm a morning person but I don't like working out in the morning. I usually workout in the evenings or lunch time. I use my mornings to meditate and catch up on blog stuff before the kids and hubs wake up.

  6. Good for you! I've read that people who exercise in the morning are much more consistent.

  7. I think we need a morning accountability group! We are all talking about getting up early to do more... we should check in with each other!

  8. I love this because a few minutes does matter and it will contribute to making a difference. We've been on the hunt for a new gym and it's been a tedious process. I wish we lived somewhere warmer but we don't. The Spring will be here soon and we can invest in some bikes. Inspiration! Great blog post.

  10. That's awesome! I've been struggling so much to force myself to wake up early to work out. Why is it sooo hard? Maybe I'll have to try it in small chunks first.

    1. I am definitely starting small! It's hard to try to do everything all at once!

  11. My husband and I are definitely NOT morning people. It's tough to get up earlier than I absolutely have to in order to get out the door and be on time to work and anytime we're up earlier, we get to the office earlier to work on the backlog of stuff so exercise is best left to the evenings for me. But I really do want to force myself to be at least a bit of a morning person!

    1. It can be really tough to get up extra early in the morning. I'm hoping it won't be too tough this week!

  12. What a struggle it is to get out of bed with this cold front! I admire you for getting up and being active even if it was only for 10 mins :) Thank you for sharing!
